CS – BACKBONE

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI ) is a statutory Professional body in india with the objective of Promoting , regulating and developing the profession of company secretaries of india. Although the name is Company Secretaries , but it has nothing to do with usual secretarial work. His/ her is work is to provide advice on corporate , legal, tax related , administrative ministers.

India is growing and expanding in the corporate field due to globalization , the demands for professional are increasing day by day ,one such profession is Company Secretary ,his task is to provide sound advice on corporate , legal, secretarial, administrative, and even tax related matters.

Institute of Company Secretary of India , a premier national professional body , offers and regulates this profession .

FIRST STEP FOR CS FOUNDATION PROGRAMME 

After the completion of 10+2 from any system , one can apply for this programme , which has duration of 8 months. The registration for this stage, can be made at any time ina year , but candidate has to clear examination . At least after 9 months from the date of registration.

SUBJECTS OF CS FOUNDATION:

. Business environment and law

. Business management and ethics and entrepreneurship

. Business Economics

. Fundamental of accounting and auditing

Examination is a objective type and is held twice a year in june and december.

QUALIFYING MARKS FOR CS FOUNDATION

A Candidate shall be declared to have passed the foundation programme examination if he/ she obtain 40% marks in each subjects and 50% in aggregate of all subjects put together. All question are of multiple choice question and the student is awarded 2 marks for every right answer.there is no negative marking for wrong answer.

RESULT:

CS result are usually announced in the month of august and feburary for june and december exams respectively.

The Next Step After Passing CS  Foundation is Executive Programme

Once you Foundation Programme is cleared , the aspirant gets promoted for the executive programme . Though the graduates of all stream except fine art and member of ICWAI AND ICAI can directly apply to this programme.

Professional Progrramme :

The candidate , who has completed the executive programme , will then be examined in the professional programme , which comprises 3 modules.

JOB PROSPECTS FOR CS

As a qualified company secretary , you can find a good position in public sector and private sector bank and financial institutions. You can look  for opening in stock exchange , the department of companies affairs Company Secretary have the added advantage of setting up their own consultancy business after obtaining a certificate of practice.

They have immense knowledge of a wide variety of subjects .in this context they can take up position of a lecturer or a visiting faculty in various academic establishments.
